Discover the fantastic scenery of Novy Svet and you’ll undoubtedly look forward to returning to this paradise!
Novy Svet (literally translated as “The New World”) is a small resort town nestled cozily in a tiny sun-warmed valley. Here one can find everything that Crimea is so famous for: the tender greenery of steep mountain slopes, high transparent sky, gentle sea, the sweet mixture of sea and pine air and an amazingly beautiful seacoast… The numerous bays of Novy Svet are full of ancient caves. The motherly coolness of the caves was once chosen by Russian Count Lev Golitsyn to store his sparkling wines. The main hall of Golitsyn`s "wine library" is one of the wonders of Novy Svet – a giant grotto, carved into the body of the stone cliffs by powerful sea waves. This unique natural "concert hall" reflects any sound from its 30-foot sheer walls increasing every murmur by a thousand times. There is a legend that on this very spot Fedor Shalyapin demonstrated the real power and beauty of his voice – even the crystal glass of gold sparkling wine that the singer was holding in his hand couldn’t resist the vibration and shattered. The cavern has been named after this unsurpassed Russian baritone. A weary traveler can also enjoy the purest glacial spring water from a small well that is dug in the depths of the cavern.
Heading westward from the cool grotto shell, you will get into the world of block chaos, dark narrows and cyclopean stairs hewn into the rock by the hand of the ancient inhabitants of the coast. Breaking through the stone forest, you`ll slide into the pleasant shade of a natural gallery Skvoznoy Grot (Through Grotto), piercing the rock massif like a spear. Travel over 77 meters of "underground road", open your soul to the dazzling panorama of Blue Bay with the majestic ruins of the rock massif uplifting over it and fall into the tender embraces of Tzar Beach! Tough, the miracles are not over yet! A steep forest path invites you to climb to the top of Karaul-Oba Mountain and witness the wondrous vista: a dark hole of "Hell" that is constantly blasting wintery air and friendly scenic woods and meadows of "Paradise". Far below, the water surface is ripped up by "The Gate of Paradise" – a rock arch of two giant blocks embracing each other.
A glass of icy sunny sparkling wine, which Novy Svet Sparkling vinery is so famous for, will b a true reward for those covering the exhausting path. Sip the refreshing drink, listen to the sounds of wind and sea – and dip into the fairy tale of Novy Svet!
